Community Spotlight: Congolese Refugees
Today, we walk alongside Congolese refugees.
For decades, conflict and instability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have forced millions of people from their homes. Many families have endured violence, displacement, and years in refugee camps before finding safety in new communities. Despite unimaginable hardship, Congolese families are known for their resilience, strong faith, vibrant culture, and commitment to rebuilding their lives.
Today, we pray for lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and for all who continue seeking safety, healing, and hope.
Scripture: Exodus 3:7–8 – “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt… I have heard them crying out… I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them…”
Reflection
When God appeared to Moses at the burning bush, He revealed something profound about His character.
God sees. God hears. God knows. God acts.
Before Moses was called to lead, God first declared His compassion for people living under oppression. Their suffering had not gone unnoticed. Their cries had reached heaven.
The same God continues to see those who are displaced today. He sees families fleeing violence, parents searching for safety, and children longing for peace. No tear is unseen. No story is forgotten.
As followers of Christ, we are invited to reflect God’s heart. We cannot respond to every need, but we can refuse to look away. We become people who notice, who listen, and who walk alongside those carrying burdens that are often invisible to others.
God’s compassion moves toward people in need. Ours should too.
Pilgrim’s Prayer
God of justice and mercy, thank You for seeing those who suffer and never turning away. Today we pray for the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and for all who have been displaced by violence and conflict. Bring peace where there is fear, healing where there is pain, and hope where despair has taken root.
Open our eyes to those who are hurting around us. Give us the courage to listen, the compassion to care, and the willingness to become instruments of Your love. Amen.
