The Art of Welcome: Building Communities that Last – September 14

Join the Cambio Center and Della Lamb Community Services for a community conversation featuring an immigrant community member, a researcher, and a community leader as we explore what it means to create welcoming communities for immigrants. The event will take place on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Missouri United Methodist Church (Corner of 9th and Elm St., Columbia, MO 65201). Register to attend.

Join us on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows and the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month for an evening centered on prayer, encounter, and the dignity of our immigrants and refugee neighbors. All are welcome!

The Well will be joined by Ryan Hundall, Executive Director of Della Lamb in Kansas City, for an important conversation about immigration, displacement, and what it means to be a good neighbor in America today.

So…Why this conversation, and why now??

Global displacement is at historic levels. At the same time, changes in national policy have significantly reduced refugee admissions to the United States, creating uncertainty for families seeking safety and for the communities that have committed to welcoming them.

But that doesn’t have to be the end of the story.

Join us as we learn from Ryan’s experience and explore together what it can look like to be better, more compassionate neighbors to people across our region—especially those rebuilding their lives in a new place.
